Data-Driven
Analysis
You most likely became involved in your fundraising leadership role due to a deep passion for your organization’s cause and mission - plus a strong desire to see real change happen in the world and community around you!
Sadly, your career hasn’t gone as envisioned… Lack of training, intense pressure to perform, tight budgets, high fundraiser turnover, and an inability to structure your team effectively has taken its toll on your work and your personal life.
It’s left you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and completely drained of that very passion that got you started.
And like the hundreds of other fundraising leaders we’ve worked with, you may feel completely lost on how to get out of a state of constant exhaustion and pressure to perform.
Mid-level and major gift programs are struggling. Here’s some of the main reasons why (and some of them you might not even realize are happening):
Lack of compelling donor offers that connect to the donor’s passions and interests
Large caseloads with unrealistic metrics
The organization structure is broken or dysfunctional
Strong donor relationships aren’t being built, creating higher donor attrition and value attrition
Donors don’t know the impact they’re making so they lose trust that their gift is making a difference
Fundraisers are being pulled into projects or meetings that take them away from working with their donors
There’s pressure to add prospects to caseloads just because they have a certain wealth score rating, even if they’ve never given a gift before
Lack of communication personalized to the donor’s passions and interests
Many non-profits are missing a strong mid-level program, resulting in only 0.2% of donors moving into major gifts per year
A focus on “getting the money now” keeps donor relationships in a transactional mindset, which means you’re losing opportunities for transformational gifts
Your organization's culture doesn’t understand or value the role of the donor or fundraising in your ability to achieve your mission
It’s hard
Overall structure and systems are often lacking in mid-level, making it difficult to effectively move donors into major gifts
Fundraiser turnover rate is incredibly high
Finding good candidates for open positions is a significant challenge
Fundraisers often struggle to hit their goals because they lack a structure and frequently get pulled into projects that take them away from donors
There are often too many responsibilities and not enough balance
Teams are under tremendous pressure to meet high expectations and revenue demands
The team is practicing poor donor relations management
Others in the organization don’t understand the importance of donor relationships
Donor attrition and value attrition is a real thing and most fundraising leaders don’t know how to analyze for it, or keep it from happening
“Veritus is doing an incredible job of keeping us focused on the hard, wonderful work of building and managing donor relationships… and delivering impact.”
Allison Rabbitt - Development Director, Seattle Opera
We’ve analyzed over a thousand non-profit data files, so that we can accurately identify what’s currently working, where there are challenges, and what’s possible.
Unfortunately, we’ve found that many mid-level and major gift programs don’t have the donor tracking, data analysis, or support structures in place…
…and as a result they are losing money every year.
In order to help non-profit fundraising leaders have data-driven systems and structures in place to create a supportive and successful work environment for themselves and their fundraising team, we’ve created a Free Donor Assessment.
Our Free Donor Assessment helps major gift teams determine:
Your donor attrition rates
Donor value attrition
Program growth
How much staff you need to grow effectively
We help you structure your mid-level and major gift programs using the data garnered from your Free Donor Assessment to create thriving, long-lasting donor relationships.
We set you up for success so that you are working with qualified donors who have individualized revenue goals and communication plans-and implement a strategy for every donor in your portfolio, giving you a winning formula.
Because we have proven, data-driven processes that consistently bring our clients transformational results, time after time.
When you work with Veritus…
More donor relationships are built
Revenue increases
Staff turnover goes way down
Your job satisfaction goes up
You and your team feel supported

Then we hold your team accountable to manage the plan and help you stay focused on the right things!
“Our Veritus coach has been so great to work with. She always follows up, cares about how I’m doing, knows each team member, and actively works to help us succeed. Debi is quick to respond and thinks strategically — she’s always encouraging me to push myself to be better. We love Veritus Group!”
Fraser Ratzlaff - Director of Development, Children of the Nations
The Veritus Way™ is an exclusive consulting program that uses a proven, data-driven system & structure to help you and your team create a consistent approach to mid-level and major gift fundraising.
After completing the application process, we’ll begin our partnership with your Free Donor Assessment, revealing whether your organization's problem is donor attrition (when the donor stops giving) or really value attrition (the loss of revenue, but not necessarily the donor). We will work alongside your team to understand the nuances of your organization, donor base, culture, and how our system and structure will best work to meet your needs.
The Assessment is truly a no-cost, no-obligation process. If your organization decides that Veritus Group can help further your vision and give your major gift and mid-level fundraising departments the structure to become successful, we would be honored to partner with you to reach your goals.
To have any kind of real progress and momentum, we recommend a partnership of at least 2-3 years, but we will also work alongside you to create a proposal that best meets your needs. We believe in the power of hard work, and seeing long-term results requires a long-term commitment and dedication to the process.
We know that once you have experienced The Veritus Way™, you will see the value in our data-driven analysis, strategy, system and structure, and expert coaching with a little tough love.
We don’t have a revolving door policy. We know that when you commit to work your plan, results will follow. We are 100% committed to your success and we expect the same commitment from our consulting partners.
“The Veritus Way is intentional and donor-centered, and that is what will make us stand apart. That is a huge part of why we raised 12% more last year as a team during COVID. The direct marketing and donor relations should be so entwined in the philosophy and process that everyone succeeds, and we are only able to do it because we’re all donor-centered.”
Ashley Garner - Director of Donor Relations, DePelchin Children’s Center

Veritus Group’s tools for mid-level and major gift fundraising will be applicable in your work for your entire career!
“Veritus Group was critical in assisting us to get a mid-level giving program up and running.
Our mid-level officers are now building authentic relationships with close to 2,000 generous donors and providing them with the attention and service they deserve.
Before this program, we were losing a large percentage of donors each year; now, each mid-level donor has a personal contact who cares about their passions and interests and shares the impact of their giving in meaningful ways. It’s making a huge difference as we build a more robust donor pipeline, which will undoubtedly increase our revenue and improve our donor retention.
Most importantly, the Veritus model is predicated on being donor-centric. I could not be more pleased with the results!
Every single person I have come in contact with at Veritus has been phenomenal to work with. They are all relationship experts which translates super well into their work at all levels.”
Jeff Halbur - Former Director, Individual Giving, Greater Twin Cities United Way
At Veritus, you won’t find a bunch of opinions that lack research to back it up. We come from a data-driven approach with proven systems and structures that will help you create a successful mid-level, major gift, or planned giving program.
We walk with you through your training experience and provide a clear, step-by-step path for addressing your mid-level, major, or planned giving needs. By creating a system that’s designed to keep you focused and accountable using the data from your Free Donor Assessment alongside our data-proven process, you’ll have a clear idea of how your fundraisers are performing, and you will keep your team centered on building authentic donor relationships.
We work with you to address problem areas and initiate change in a way that honors your team and internal partners and, most importantly, is sustainable and measurable. We believe that the right culture, internal partnerships, and systems are critical to be successful in fundraising. We’ll guide both you and other key individuals at your organization as you implement our system and structure (what we call “The Veritus Way™”.)
“Veritus helped us get laser focused on our donor outreach, stewardship and cultivation. They provided the support and discipline that we needed to not only build this program but make it sustainable as well.”
Ruth Ann Dailey - Senior Vice President, Philanthropy, American Cancer Society
If the lack of structure in your organization and intense pressure to hit unrealistic fundraising metrics has left you feeling stressed and dispassionate in your role…
If you’re struggling to meet the expectations of management amidst a chaotic work environment with such a high turnover of your coworkers and poor relationships being formed with donors…
If you’re ready for partnered support and data-driven methods to give you the accountability and structure needed to bring the passion back into your role/career…
Our Free Donor Assessment is an in-depth, no-obligation analysis that uncovers patterns of donor attrition and lost opportunities in your organization’s donor file.
This assessment helps you determine:
An overview of the health of your donor pipeline, specifically looking at your major and mid-level donor groups.
Analysis of your value and donor attrition rates, showing where and how often donors are leaving unnoticed because new money is covering up the attrition. You’ll see:
We are passionate about coming alongside you wherever your organization is in its journey. That means that we won’t just provide a donor file assessment – we’ll also give you a clear picture of where to focus… and how to grow your program.
In every major gift/mid-level assessment we complete, we’ve seen how new donors are covering up donor value attrition results by examining each donor’s giving year-over-year and how each donor performs over a period of 4-5 years. It’s critical to not just look one year versus the next, but to have a firm grasp on how donors perform over the long-term, and how we sometimes overlook their value attrition because new donors cover up the loss of older donors. Most annual data analysis will miss this broader view of the health of your donor pipeline. Our planned giving assessment provides a deep view into the potential within your own file and the opportunity you have in planned giving.
Yes! We’re happy to do so and have internal security measures to ensure the safety of your data.
The first step will be to determine the best fit for you based on your responses. Depending on your organization’s needs, we may recommend a conversation about our consulting services or about our coaching and online training programs.
If you seem like the right fit for consulting, we’ll evaluate your application responses and ask you to schedule a meeting with a representative from our team. That initial consult call only takes 15-20 minutes and is valuable time to help us better understand the unique needs and culture your organization has. From that meeting, we’ll work to complete the assessment and then meet with you to present the results. We’ll follow up with a proposal of how we think we can partner together to help you transform your mid-level and major gifts programs.
If you seem like the right fit for coaching or an online training program, you’ll be asked to schedule time to meet with a representative to talk through your focus area, the top needs your organization is facing, and what trainings might meet your needs.
We do regular calls on Zoom.
Yes, you will have access to our Community Hub where you can find additional resources and network with the entire Veritus community. Our coaches are also available by email to answer questions from fundraisers as they come up.
The first roughly 100 days of our partnership are considered our Onboarding Period. This stage involves more regular meetings with leadership and other key partners in your organization to ensure buy-in and address any unique aspects of your fundraising system or organization culture. We’re also focused on completing an in-depth data analysis, review of existing portfolios, and will begin working with you to develop your Business Protocols. Your fundraisers will also complete their initial training during this time.
After the first 100 days are complete, we’ll begin regularly meeting with each fundraiser individually to continue implementation, work through any challenges or roadblocks, and build strategic plans for their donors. The focus for each fundraiser will depend on the existing portfolio, how many qualified donors are on their portfolio, and how new they are to the organization and/or fundraising.
All fundraisers we partner with and leaders in the organization will have access to our Community Hub where they can find additional resources and network with the entire Veritus community. Our coaches are also available by email to answer questions from fundraisers as they come up. We’ll also meet regularly with you, and other key fundraising leaders, typically about once a month, and provide quarterly results reporting.
